NSF Student Travel Grant for IEEE SMARTCOMP 2024 (US-based Students ONLY)

The 10th IEEE Conference on Smart Computing (SMARTCOMP 2024) to be held in-person in Osaka, Japan on June 29-July 2, 2024 is anticipating NSF-sponsored competitive student travel grants to attend IEEE SMARTCOMP 2024 (https://smartcomp.w.waseda.jp/) and co-located events like Workshops, Ph.D. Forum, Work-in-Progress, Posters, and Demo sessions.

The NSF travel grant is available only to full time students attending colleges and universities in the US.
Underrepresented minority and women students from diverse US institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. In addition to the student authors, non-author students including exceptional undergraduate students, MS and PhD students, engaged in smart computing research will also be considered. Having an accepted paper is not necessary to avail the grant. To be eligible for NSF travel grant, US based students (referred to as “you”) must apply via the Google Form link by April 26th, 2024.

To apply for NSF travel support, upload the following documents:

  1. A one-page Cover Letter stating: (i) if you are a full-time student (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.): (ii) that you will be attending the entire SMARTCOMP 2024 conference and associate events; (iii) what your research interests and accomplishments are in the area of smart computing; (iv) why attendance to SMARTCOMP 2024 is important, and how it would impact your future research; and (v) how you wish to benefit from and contribute to the conference.
  2. A two-page CV.
  3. A Letter of Recommendation from your academic mentor confirming: (a) you are currently a full-time student (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.) in good standing, you are engaged in smart computing research, and your strengths and potential research contributions; (b) ways you would benefit from attending SMARTCOMP 2024 conference; and (c) you will be attending the entire SMARTCOMP 2024 conference and associated events.

Eligible expenses include reimbursement of advance student/author registration fee to avail reduced registration fee, and non-author student registration fee, airfare, hotel stay. Expenses not eligible for reimbursement are regular/on-site registration, internet connectivity fee, etc. Travel expenses will be reimbursed only after the completion of the conference attendance and submission of required receipts. The reimbursement amount will be based on the number of awards made.
